The OLD SMITH 90-009 was designed based on the wristwatch used by the British Army during World War II, known as the "Dirty Dozen." It uses CITIZEN MIYOTA's Japanese-made "Cal.82s5" movement, faithfully reproducing the design of the period.
The watch itself has a 35mm case. Slightly smaller than what is popular these days, it faithfully recreates the size of the original, and is a size that works on wrists of all sizes.
The hour hand, minutes hand, and second hand feature a hairline finish with a matte texture. The minutes hand has a "curved hand design," in which the tip is curved to match the shape of the glass. The hour and minute hands are made with Swiss-made Super-LumiNova®. When exposed to light, they emit a strong luminescence in the dark.
The dial of this model has a two-layer structure. The first layer has a fine matte finish, recreating the atmosphere of a rugged military watch. The railway track and Arabic numerals on the outer edge of the dial are applied on top of the first layer, creating a three-dimensional design. Despite its small size, the overall design has a strong presence.
The strap is made from high-grade Italian cordovan leather. Only a small amount of this high-grade leather can be taken from the buttocks of a horse. It is characterized by its elegant luster and is famous as one of the world's top three leathers, along with "bridle leather" and "Italian leather."
